Staff Rewarded For Outstanding Performance During Lockdown

12 May 2020

Hartlebury, UK - An industry-leading supplier of agricultural parts and accessories is ensuring its warehouse operatives are rewarded after helping the business to achieve new heights, despite a national lockdown in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

In recent weeks Bepco UK has faced the same challenge as almost every other organisation in the country; endeavouring to keep a business operational while ensuring the safety and well-being of its staff members. When the lockdown commenced in March overnight changes were implemented across the company including, but not limited to; furloughing individuals where required, enabling remote working for those who could work from home, implementing split shift patterns and adhering to strict social distancing measures within the premises.

Their staff quickly adapted to these changes and, as of 12 May, Bepco UK is pleased to advise that there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 within the organisation. At the end of March the company’s management team expected the month of April to be quieter than usual considering the circumstances. However, the first week of April delivered figures that suggested it was going to be a challenging period ahead for quite the opposite reason, with a fifteen percent increase in business compared to last year. With some personnel unable to work due to self isolation, it was all hands on deck to ensure customers’ orders were picked and dispatched on time.

Things only got busier for the business as the month went by and in the final week of April Bepco UK was looking at a thirty five percent increase in trade compared with the same period in 2019. In principle this was an incredible result for the company, but in practice it created a huge challenge for the warehouse teams to handle this volume of orders especially while adhering to social distancing measures.

Martin Packer (Warehouse & Logistics Manager - Bepco UK) says, “The pandemic has presented us with unexpected challenges and the on-site teams have performed with true dedication, agility and commitment. Every team member has done their utmost to ensure the business continues to operate at an optimal level and that our valued customers get the parts they need at the right time.”

Shortly after the lockdown commenced the company distributed Just Eat gift cards and Easter egg bundles to raise the morale of staff in light of the challenging times that lay ahead. The exceptional performance demonstrated by the warehouse teams earned them a well-deserved pay rise - significantly above the statutory minimum increase, and to celebrate their hard work Bepco UK teamed up with Shed Food & Drink to serve every team member with a hot lunch at the beginning of May.

“We wanted to do something to reward our staff and express thanks for their unwavering commitment in recent weeks”, says John Percy (Managing Director - Bepco UK). He continues, “We reached out to local restaurants and takeaways and discovered that locally based Shed was open for business and the perfect solution for our intended staff reward.”

More than 70 meals were served to team members at both the Hartlebury and recently completed Kidderminster warehouse site, with staff overwhelmed and hugely appreciative of Bepco UK’s efforts to reward them during this challenging time.

“A big thank you goes to our loyal and valued customer base for continuing to choose us as their preferred supplier of agricultural parts and accessories. It is testament to the operations and efficiency of the organisation that more customers than ever are choosing Bepco UK, especially during these times of uncertainty. But none of our results could have been achieved without the exceptional members of staff who continue to go the extra mile - every single day,” comments John Percy.
